The project is located at No. 1, Lane 655, Yishan Road, Xuhui District, Shanghai, with a total land area of 4,000 square meters and a construction area of 2,000 square meters. The south side of the site is Tianlin Street Service Center, and the west side is Shanghai Southwest WeiYu Middle School.
Design task is the replanning of the circulation, the façade and the space. The corridor is proximal and can not be connected with the south side of the activity site. The logistics circulation and the classroom circulation cross in the narrow proximal corridor. This leads to the problem of the children’s movement being blocked and the logistics personnel gathering. A corridor is divided in the middle of the classroom at the end of the corridor to the outdoor activity site. The inner corridor and the outdoor activity site form a closed circular circulation. The design change not only makes the inner corridor clear, but also makes the children have the motivation to run.The original north corridor is changed into the south corridor, and the toilet is moved to the original north corridor, which solves the problem of direct ventilation and lighting in the toilet. The corridor not only has daylighting, but also has an ambiguous transition space between outdoor activity platform and indoor space. The classroom has the tension of natural extension to the outdoor, creating more outdoor activities for children.
