Wuxi Dongjiang Planning Kindergarten

The project is located in the southeast of Dongjiang Experimental School, Jingkai District, Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province, with a total land area of 11135 square meters. The south side of the site is planned for the middle school, and the east side is planned for the road.

The project plans a kindergarten of 24 classes, and the site is compact. In order to make the overall layout of the classrooms basically facing south spread out in a "U" shape, the entrance arrangement on the east side formed an effective traffic organization and diversion into the park, and also alleviated the traffic pressure on the south side.

At the end of the "U" shape, a staircase is set up up and down, a vertical traffic space is set up at the bend to connect with the underground space, and a multi-purpose classroom and creative classroom are set up at the curved water space in the northeast direction, and the interior space is extended outward by combining with the outdoor space of the entrance retreat.

The project is inspired by the "cave dwelling", one of the ancient ways of human habitation, and the various functions are organically combined in the arched space structure, as if teaching, living and playing take place in the cave. The cave and the cavernous space structure seem to awaken the children's subconscious memory of "drilling holes". The curved natural form is connected with the ancient living way to create a unique architectural space for children. To bring children combined with education life experience space at the same time, return to nature waiting for the original heart.

The inner corridor and the site have an inward tension and view. The vaulted classroom roof on the third floor and the skylight on the vault of the vertical traffic bring natural light and fantastic light and shadow to the classroom.

The three-storey classroom uses the height of the arch to increase part of the multi-storey space, and the children climb up and down the arch cave space to make full use of the teachers and children, and give play to more possibilities of the cave space.

If it is the nature of children to go around in circles, then drilling holes is the subconscious of children to return to nature.
