The design originates from a 300-meter-long scroll of "Heart Classic" calligraphy, and I want to build a suitable venue to display it, and combine the corporate culture and local context to build in the outstanding Wuyuan.
This is a handmade and creative design project located in Wuyuan County, China. It plans to build a design that integrates traditional historical culture and contemporary art into one with the functions of exhibition, performing arts, art and reception. The hope is to create a building that is closely connected with the local context, crosses the regional boundaries, and is full of humanistic and artistic space.
With the hope of understanding and exploring Hui culture, in order to interpret and comprehend the ideological theme of "color is emptiness, and emptiness is color" with architectural space, the project is named "Heart Art Museum", and tries to create a new cultural and art center integrating Hui style architectural culture in Wuyuan.
The circle around the water constitutes a top-down flow space, and also naturally forms the core of the architectural form. Through the uncertainty of the water, the circle has the outward flow and tension, so it has the form of being round and not round.
Below the water is the meditation space and the performing arts space. Above the water is the Buddhist hall. Along the ramp, you can reach the underwater meditation space and the performing arts space. Inside and outside the two staggered sliding ring space is a continuous circulation of space, separated by a grid, light and shadow shuttle between them. The meditation space and the performing arts space are linked with the Buddhist hall around the water, through the Heart Sutra calligraphy display space. The Buddhist hall is hidden behind the river, overlooking the river pond.
From one side of the Buddhist hall, you can walk out of the oval space, and you can circle back to the lobby along the cascading water features, and you can also reach the cultural and creative exhibition hall through the light gallery. The rising horsehead wall enclose the courtyard with four waters, and the corporate culture and product exhibition hall are arranged around the courtyard. The steps along the intersecting horse walls are like paths between lanes in Wuyuan, leading to the roof. Through the wall of the horse, a view of the lake came into view.
The "heart" of the Heart Art Museum not only represents the calligraphy scriptures, but also has the meaning of "Zen", and also reflects the landscape artistic conception of Wuyuan. The architectural design of the Heart Art Museum is another response to Huizhou architectural culture. The spatial form with "ellipse" as the center expands outwards and "horse wall" as the center converges inwards, trying to construct the spatial aesthetics of Huizhou and the East with the context of "heart".
